What is (Poly) Fill?

The poly fill or "weight" of a blanket determines the blanket's warmth. The poly fill is measured in grams and the higher the value the warmer the blanket. Our turnout blankets range from 100 grams to 350 grams, providing options for changing temperatures. Turnout sheets provide no warmth only protection from wind/rain.

When deciding what your horse needs consider the following:

1. Your horse's environment
   • Be aware of your local weather forecast for any length of time that your horse may be unattended. 
   • Are they turned out with or without shelter? Or are they kept inside a barn?
2. The condition of your horse's coat
   • Does your horse grow a thick and heavy coat?
   • Do you body clip your horse in the winter?
3. Your horse's general health
   • A senior horse or a horse with a low body score will typically burn more calories to keep warm, so a heavier fill may be necessary.
