What is denier?
Denier is a measure of strength or toughness of the outer shell of a banket or sheet. This value is determined by the thread's thickness in the material. So, the higher the denier value, the stronger the material is and the less chance of it to be damaged with use.
| VERY LIGHT | 210 Denier |
| LIGHT | 420 Denier |
| MEDIUM | 600 Denier |
| HEAVY | 1200 Denier |
| SUPER TOUGH | 1680 Denier |
When deciding what your horse needs consider the following:
- Your horse's turnout
- Keep in mind the length of time your horse will spend outside. The longer the time the more chance for wear and tear.
- Is their pasture/corral free of sharp objects that could poke and tear a blanket?
- Your horse's contact with other horses
- If your horse is turned out with others, keep a watchful eye out for roughhousing. Other horses can bite, paw, rip, and tear your horse's blanket.
- Your horse's energy level
- Some horses like to play and wear their blankets more than others. Is your horse a frisky filly or a gentle gelding?
