How do I fit my horse's blanket/sheet?

Before ordering a blanket or sheet for your horse you will need to measure their size. Using a cloth measuring tape measure your horse from the center of their chest along their side to the center of their tail. If this measurement falls between sizes, always round up to the closest available size as our front buckle closures will allow for minor fit adjustments once on your horse.

Crossed Surcingle Closures

When secured, the surcingle straps should be crossed over each other. You should be able to fit the width of your hand between the horse's barrel and the straps - which allows the horse to breathe and move comfortably.

Leg Strap

Leg straps should be adjusted so that there is a hands width between the horse's rear leg and the strap. If you experience rubbing the two legs straps can be looped through each other to keep them farther from the inside of the leg.

Front Buckle Closures

Our front closures come with or without snaps and feature a buckle for fit adjustments. These closures should be adjusted to allow the shoulders to move freely and the head lowered easily without restricting the neck.

We recommend removing the snaps if the horse is turned out with access to a hay net.

Snuggit Adjustable Neck

Tough1's patented Snuggit™ neck adjustment allows for a more custom fit! The "Quick Grip" strap allows a small gusset to be opened or closed to adjust the fit of the blanket to your horse's neck and shoulder.
